Dennis' mighty six piece outfit, Badbone & Co, launched in 2000, is now considered one of the most popular fusion bands on the UK circuit; its 2006 BBC Jazz Awards Best Band nomination pays testament to that. Badbone & Co's repertoire of groove-based, funky dance music with jazz overtones appeals to both listeners and dancers alike. Successful gigs last year included its debut appearance on Glastonbury's prestigious Jazz/World Stage; at The Underbelly as part of the Edinburgh Festival; and at a jam-packed Jazz Cafe gig - part of the London Jazz Festival - which saw punters singing and dancing along to Dennis' infectious tunes. From the blues to hip hop, funk to soul, the popularity of this band just grows and grows. Badbone & Co's third album, Big Night Out!, is Dennis' funkiest to date. Badbone & Co has previously released two critically acclaimed albums: Badbone and Make Your Move. Dennis' trademark funk'n'groove is admired on both the British and international jazz scene. Celebrated for his versatility and unique approach, Dennis has successfully established the underrated trombone as an exciting front-line instrument. Combining his phenomenal live, recording and compositional talents with extensive educational work, Dennis is one of the hardest working musicians in the UK. Born in 1964 in the Midlands to Jamaican parents, and raised in South Yorkshire, Dennis cut his teeth at the age of 14 studying and performing with The Doncaster Youth Jazz Association. After years of study, Dennis moved to London and began playing with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) and the legendary all-black jazz big band The Jazz Warriors. Over the years, Dennis, now based in Doncaster, has established a reputation as an artist of excellence and has lent his unique and stylish talents to some of this country's, and indeed the world's, top jazz and pop personalities such as Courtney Pine, Baba Maal, Jamiroquai, US3, Brand New Heavies and Blur. Dennis is an Ambassador for the National Foundation for Youth Music's Endangered Species programme, set up to boost youth interest in instruments such as the trombone, French horn, double bass, tuba and oboe, and is also on the Board of Advisors of the British Trombone Society.'
